How does Care ViraSoothe work?

The red spots and blisters associated with chickenpox can often become itchy, inflamed, and infected with bacteria.

Scratching these areas can spread any infection and lead to scarring.

Care ViraSoothe provides cooling and soothing relief to the affected areas, reducing the urge to scratch.

It contains Osmo Care, a unique patented technology that has been clinically proven to relieve the irritating symptoms of chickenpox by cooling the skin, thus relieving itching.

By protecting the skin's environment, it allows the skin to heal naturally, which can help reduce long-term scarring.

Pharmacist FAQs Answered

How does Care ViraSoothe help with chickenpox?

Care ViraSoothe is designed to cool and soothe the skin during chickenpox outbreaks. Chickenpox spots and blisters can be very itchy, and scratching them increases the chances of infection and scarring. The gel contains Osmo Care technology, which works by drawing water to the surface of the skin, cooling and soothing itchiness. Not only is discomfort relieved, but natural healing is also helped, and long-term scarring is prevented.

When and how do I use Care ViraSoothe?

Use Care ViraSoothe as early as spots are seen.

Wash and dry your hands first.

Massage a small amount of gel into the skin with a gentle rubbing motion.

It can be used 2 to 3 times daily or as frequently as relief is needed.

The gel can be applied to the face and body, but avoid the eyes. Apply it only to external areas of the skin.

Is Care ViraSoothe suitable for children and infants?

Yes, it is suitable for children from the age of 6 months. For children under 6 months, ask your pharmacist or GP before use. It can be used in older children, i.e., toddlers, and schoolchildren. It has no preservatives, so it is gentle on sensitive skin. Adults, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and the elderly should ask a doctor before using the product.

Will Care ViraSoothe prevent scarring?

Care ViraSoothe is not a scar cream, but it prevents scarring by cooling the skin and reducing the temptation to scratch. It also helps the skin's natural healing and creates a better healing environment. As scratching is one of the most frequent causes of scarring after chickenpox, applying such a product at an early phase will make an excellent difference. It is important to know the difference between shingles vs chickenpox.

And if Care ViraSoothe doesn't work?

If your child's symptoms don't improve within seven days or the irritation becomes worse, talk to a doctor or pharmacist. Although Care ViraSoothe soothes itching, it will not cure any bacterial infections that can occur - if that happens, additional treatment might be necessary. Similarly, if your child has an extremely high fever, ongoing discomfort, or increasing skin changes, consult a doctor immediately.

Does Care ViraSoothe clash with other medicines?

Care ViraSoothe is a topical (outside) gel not absorbed into the body, so it's not likely to interfere with other medicines. However, if your child is using any other creams or ointments on the same region, leave a gap between uses or ask your pharmacist for advice. Don't use it simultaneously with steroid creams or antibiotic ointments unless your doctor tells you to.
