Pharmacist FAQs Answered
How does Freederm Gel cure acne?
Freederm Gel works to reduce the redness, swelling, and tenderness of inflamed acne spots and pimples. It contains nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3, which is a natural anti-inflammatory ingredient. It makes the skin settle down and also clears out breakouts without harsh reactions like those of more powerful acne treatments like antibiotics or benzoyl peroxide, like Acnecide. It's perfect for those with mild to moderate acne who would want a mild but effective treatment.
Can I use moisturiser or makeup after applying Freederm Gel?
Yes, you can apply makeup and moisturiser after using Freederm Gel, but wait until the gel has completely dried. It will only take a few minutes. Make sure to use non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) makeup and skincare products so they won't exacerbate your acne. Apply Freederm first, let it dry, then apply as usual.
How long will it take to notice results from Freederm Gel?
Certain people notice their acne start to look better in a couple of days, especially the disappearance of redness and swelling. However, to get optimal benefits, 2 to 4 weeks' duration of continuous application, twice a day, are usually necessary. Not all skins are the same, and so some can be slower. Keep calm and patiently wait, and do not touch and squeeze zits, as it slows the healing process and causes scarring.
Can I use Freederm Gel with other acne treatments?
Freederm Gel can be applied with other gentle skincare products, such as gentle cleansers or moisturisers. However, if you are on other dry skin spot treatments such as benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, or salicylic acid, seek the advice of a pharmacist beforehand. Applying too many at the same time could make the skin feel dry, peel, or irritate. When using them in combination, it is best to apply one during the morning and the other during the night.
What if Freederm Gel irritates my skin?
Some people may experience a little stinging, dryness, or irritation when they first apply Freederm. This should improve as your skin adjusts. If the reaction is bad or your skin becomes extremely red, itchy, or sore, stop using the gel and speak with a pharmacist or doctor. They can tell you if it's the right product for you or suggest another treatment for acne.
