Product Summary

Provide fast and effective prevention and control of travel sickness. The active ingredient, hyoscine, acts on the balance organs of the inner ear and the nerves that are responsible for nausea. As travel sickness is believed to be a result of the brain receiving conflicting information about what the body senses and what the eyes are seeing, Kwells Travel Sickness Tablets act fast to settle, balance and prevent sickness while travelling.

Pharmacist FAQs Answered by

How do travel sickness tablets like Kwells actually work in the body?

Kwells tablets contain hyoscine hydrobromide, which silences the communication between your brain and inner ear. While travelling, your vision and balance centres may send fuzzy messages to your brain, making you nauseated or dizzy. Kwells inhibits such communication, and thus, your brain cannot react with nausea or vomiting. It works when taken beforehand, before you become sick.

Is Kwells suitable for treating other types of nausea?

Kwells is mainly designed for motion-related nausea, such as nausea from driving, boating, or flying. While it might help in other cases, like nausea from rides at amusement parks, it’s not meant for use in stomach bugs, food poisoning, or other medical causes of nausea. Always ask a doctor or pharmacist if you’re unsure whether it’s the right product for your situation.

What sets Kwells apart from other travel sickness medications?

Kwells is a medicine tablet that changes nerve messages in the ear and brain. Sea bands place pressure points on the wrist but contain no medicine. Ginger tablets are natural drugs and may help with mild nausea. Kwells will work more promptly and predictably, especially for those badly affected by motion sickness, but it can have side effects like drowsiness.

May Kwells be consumed on an empty stomach?

Yes, Kwells can be consumed with or without food. Because it is absorbed through the mouth and not directly through the stomach, it will not usually cause upset when consumed without food. However, sucking or chewing the tablet can make it act quicker, especially when taken shortly before traveling.

What do I do if I accidentally take too many Kwells tablets?

If you take more tablets by mistake, you should seek medical help immediately. Too much can cause dry mouth, double vision, rapid pulse, or confusion. Never delay seeking help until symptoms appear. Always carry the pack with you in case doctors need to know what you have taken.

Why shouldn't children under the age of 10 take the Kwells tablets?

Kwells tablets contain a powerful active ingredient which affects the nervous system. Little children under 10 years of age are susceptible to this effect, and it will produce extreme side effects if taken in an improper dosage. Travel sickness medicines are particularly suitable for young children, so speak to your pharmacist to find a safer alternative.

Can Kwells be used on long journeys like overnight flights or cruises?

Yes, Kwells may be beneficial on longer journeys, but note that it takes only about 6 hours. If you continue to travel later than that, you may have to take a second dose, but not more than three over 24 hours. On long holidays like cruises, it's good to sort it out with your pharmacist before the trip to agree on maintaining the symptoms manageable for the daytime.
