- Regaine Foam for Women is a non-hormonal treatment that contains the active ingredient minoxidil, which has been proven to help reverse the progression of female pattern hair loss.
- When applied directly to your scalp, Regaine for women penetrates your skin and revitalises inactive hair follicles.

Pharmacists FAQs Answered
How do I know whether the loss of my hair is female pattern hair loss?
Female pattern hair loss typically comes on gradually and is most common on the crown and top of the scalp. Thinning hair, an increasing part, or less volume when styling may be apparent. Hormones, age, and genetics cause it. It does not usually cause bald spots. However, if your baldness is sudden, occurs in patches, or is accompanied by redness and itching, it may be due to another condition, such as alopecia areata, thyroid disorders, or stress. Such types should not be treated with Regaine. It would be wise to consult a pharmacist or doctor first to ensure that Regaine is suitable for your type of baldness.
Can I colour, perm, or heat-style my hair when taking Regaine for Women?
Yes, you may continue to style your hair normally, including using hair colouring, straighteners, curling irons, or perms. However, you should allow the Regaine foam to dry completely before styling your hair with any of these appliances or treatments. This will take approximately 20–30 minutes. Do not use Regaine on the day of chemical treatments like dyeing or perming because these may irritate your scalp. You need to wait at least 24 hours since chemical treatments before using Regaine again. Always be careful with your hair to prevent breakage or scalp irritation that may further enhance healthier growth in the long term.
What do I do if I miss a dose of Regaine for Women?
If you miss a dose, simply use the next dose at your regular time the following day. Do not use additional foam to make up for the missed dose. More foam will not increase your hair's growth rate and may increase your chance of side effects like scalp skin irritation or too much hair growth on other areas of your body. Consistency breeds results, so try to incorporate Regaine into your everyday routine, such as after your nighttime skincare routine. Set an alarm if you must. Don't panic if you miss a day or two; your hair will just grow more slowly, but otherwise carry on as normal.
Is Regaine safe to use for women with allergies or sensitive skin?
Regaine contains minoxidil, alcohol, and other irritants for sensitive skin. If you've had adverse reactions to similar products in the past or are sure that you're sensitive to alcohol-based products, speak to your pharmacist beforehand. You may notice a mild itchiness or dryness when you begin, but this usually subsides. A little extra scalp-loving care—like gentle shampoo and avoidance of harsh hair products—can be miraculous. Don't use Regaine if your scalp is broken, inflamed, or sunburned. Always test a small amount first if you're concerned, and discontinue use of Regaine if irritation persists.
How do I cope with excessive hair shedding during the first few weeks?
It can be unsettling, but excessive hair shedding during the first 2–6 weeks of using Regaine is a sign that the treatment is working. This is due to existing hairs being pushed out by newer, healthier hair growth underneath. It will usually subside on its own. Don't panic or stop using unless it's excessive or ongoing after 6 weeks. Just keep up with the once-a-day routine, and be gentle with your hair during this time—skip tight styles and reduce heat and brushing. If unsure or worried, talk to your GP or pharmacist.
Will my hair return to what it was if I stop using Regaine for Women?
Yes—if you stop using Regaine, any new hairs will probably fall out within a few months. Follicles revert to a resting state without the daily encouragement of minoxidil. This means that you will revert to your natural hair loss routine before treatment. Regaine needs to be used daily to keep hair follicles active and maintain its effects. If you're thinking of giving Regaine up because of side effects, speak to a pharmacist first—sometimes changing how you apply the foam or your hair care routine may help. Taking a break is fine if recommended by your doctor.
Is Regaine for Women safe to use on eyebrows or elsewhere?
No, Regaine should be used on the scalp. It is not practical or safe to use on eyebrows, eyelashes, or other body hair. Using it elsewhere can lead to side effects such as skin irritation, dryness, or unwanted hair growth in areas where you do not want it. The foam has been formulated to work on scalp follicles only and can be harmful if used elsewhere. If you're worried about thinning eyebrows or lashes, there are also products designed for those areas—ask your pharmacist for details or speak with a doctor before trying anything new.
