Directions
- A plastic stud on each wrist band exerts pressure on the Nei-Kuan acupressure point on the wrists to provide effective relief.
- To locate this pressure point, place your middle three fingers on the inside of your wrist with the edge of the third finger on the wrist crease.
- The Nei Kuan point is just under the edge of your index finger between the two central tendons. Position the button facing downward over the Nei Kuan point.
- Repeat the process for the other wrist.

FAQs Answered by our Pharmacists – Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Wristbands
How does acupressure help relieve nausea naturally?
Sea-Bands work by applying steady pressure to the Nei Kuan (P6) acupressure point, located on the inside of your wrist. Pressing this point can help calm signals between the brain and stomach, which may reduce feelings of nausea. This technique is commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine and has been supported by some clinical studies for nausea relief.
What types of nausea can Sea-Bands help with?
Sea-Bands are useful for many types of nausea, including:
-
Travel sickness (motion sickness from cars, planes, or boats)
-
Morning sickness during pregnancy
-
Post-operative nausea from anaesthesia
-
Nausea from chemotherapy or other medical treatments
They are a non-drug option, which is why they are often recommended for people who cannot or prefer not to take medication.
How long does it take for Sea-Bands to work?
Some people feel relief within minutes, while others may take up to 30 minutes to notice a difference. The timing can vary depending on the cause and severity of the nausea. It’s best to put the bands on before symptoms begin, such as before a car trip or chemotherapy session.
Can Sea-Bands be worn all day and night?
Yes, Sea-Bands are safe to wear continuously, even overnight. However, you should check your wrists regularly for signs of pressure marks or skin irritation. If any discomfort occurs, take a short break or adjust the placement. They’re especially helpful for pregnant individuals who experience nausea throughout the day.
Are Sea-Bands as effective as anti-nausea medicine?
Sea-Bands may not work for everyone, but many users find them helpful, especially when used early or alongside other remedies. They don’t cause drowsiness or dry mouth like some nausea medicines can, making them a popular choice for people looking for drug-free relief. In more severe cases, your doctor might recommend combining both methods.
How should I clean and care for my Sea-Bands?
Sea-Bands can be hand-washed in warm, soapy water and air-dried. Do not machine wash or tumble dry, as this may damage the elastic or the pressure stud. With proper care, a single pair can last for many uses, making them an eco-friendly and cost-effective option.
Do Sea-Bands work for vertigo or dizziness?
While they’re designed for nausea, some people with vertigo or balance issues report improvement when using Sea-Bands. This effect isn't guaranteed, and they don’t treat the cause of dizziness itself. If you experience frequent vertigo, talk to your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
