Directions
On first use, prime the spray by briefly pressing the nozzle. From the onset of colds and sinusitis: Keeping the head straight, put the nozzle in the nostril. Spray once or twice in each nostril.

Pharmacist FAQs Answered
How long does Stérimar Congestion Relief take to become effective after taking it?
Stérimar Congestion Relief acts extremely fast, usually within several minutes of application. That is because it employs a hypertonic seawater solution, meaning it contains a greater concentration of salt than cells in your body. That tends to pull out excess fluid and mucus from congested nasal tissues through the natural process of osmosis. The spray clears the nasal passages to breathe more freely and enjoy pressure or congestion relief, especially when you have a cold or sinus infection. For the best results, make use of the guidelines for spraying into each nostril and then gently blowing the nose. Most individuals can feel a clearer nose within a few minutes, but for ongoing symptoms, utilise it 2 to 6 times per day until they improve.
Is Stérimar safe to use every day or for a long time?
Yes, Stérimar Congestion Relief is safe for daily and long-term use, as long as you’re using it as directed. It’s made from 100% natural seawater with added minerals like copper and manganese, and it doesn’t contain any drugs, preservatives, or chemicals that can cause side effects with frequent use. Unlike medicated nasal sprays, which will in some cases induce "rebound congestion" when overused, Stérimar works gently by removing mucus and irritants from the nasal area. It can be used safely several times a day in the case of a cold or sinus problem, and even daily for overall nasal hygiene or to prevent congestion. If symptoms persist for more than 10 days or worsen, consult a doctor.
Can I use this spray in addition to other cold or allergy medications?
Yes, Stérimar can be used in conjunction with other cold or allergy medications, such as decongestant sprays, antihistamines, or pain relievers. It may even make the other medicines more effective by first clearing the nasal passages. Washing away heavy mucus allows medicated sprays to penetrate more effectively into the areas that they have to. Since Stérimar does not contain drugs and is just natural, it will not interact with other medicines. Be careful to wait a few minutes between uses. Apply the Stérimar first to open up the nasal passages, then apply any medicated spray or drops if prescribed by your physician. Always read the instructions of all products you’re using and ask a pharmacist if you’re unsure about combining them.
What’s the difference between this and regular saline nasal sprays?
Stérimar Congestion Relief is a hypertonic solution, meaning it contains more salt than regular saline (which is isotonic and has the same salt level as your body’s cells). That increased salt content helps draw moisture out of swelling nasal tissues, reducing puffiness and facilitating easier breathing. That makes it stronger and more effective for de-stuffing cold, allergy, or sinusitis symptoms in the nose. Regular saline sprays are better for everyday sanitising or light moistening of dry noses, but without the same decongesting power. Therefore, if your nose is genuinely pretty congested or pressured, a hypertonic spray like Stérimar is a better choice.
Can children use Stérimar Congestion Relief, and is it simple to administer on them?
Yes, Stérimar Congestion Relief can be used safely by children 3 years and older. It features a gentle spray and multi-angle nozzle, making it easy to administer, even to restless children. The nozzle is slender and can fit comfortably into the nose but not too far. With children, it's often better to have them tilt their head slightly to one side and then gently spray the top nostril. Always allow any excess fluid to flow out, and then wipe or blow the nose gently. Use 2 to 6 times a day as needed, depending on the degree of nasal congestion. Some children may feel a slight tingling if their nose is very irritated, but it will cease at once.
What shall I do if I accidentally spray too much or it runs down my throat?
If you inadvertently spray too much Stérimar or find it running down your throat, don't worry—it won't harm you. Ingredients are natural sea water and minerals, and they're harmless if swallowed in minor amounts. You might notice a salty taste or a slight throat tickle, but this usually goes away quickly. To avoid this in the future, make sure you’re using the correct technique: keep the head straight (not tilted back) for regular rinsing or tilted sideways for a deeper clean. Spray gently and briefly—a quick 1- to 2-second spray is usually enough. Then let the solution drain naturally and blow your nose. Persistent discomfort or burning nose, discontinue use and talk to a pharmacist.
Is Stérimar safe for individuals suffering from allergies, asthma, or sensitive noses?
Yes, Stérimar is a good choice for individuals suffering from allergies, asthma, or sensitive noses, as it is drug-free, preservative-free, and naturally derived. The seawater is also used to clear allergens like pollen, dust, and pet dander from the nasal passages, which can ease allergy symptoms. It also keeps the nose moist and clean, which is helpful for people with asthma or dry nasal passages. However, if your nose is irritated, you might feel a little tingling sensation on the first time using it—that usually dissolves right away. If you’ve had a severe reaction to seawater sprays before, check with a doctor first. Otherwise, it’s generally very well tolerated, even by people with sensitive systems.
