Pharmacist FAQs Answered
What is Tiger Balm White used for?
Tiger Balm White is usually used for tension headaches, muscle aches, and pains. It works by using natural ingredients like camphor, menthol, and essential oils to create a heat or cooling sensation, which helps relax muscles and relieve pain. For tension headaches, adults use a small amount on the forehead or temples. For sore muscles, rub in gently 2 to 3 times a day. Do not use on broken skin or irritated skin, and wash your hands afterwards. It is not a cure, but it will be more comfortable when your body is healing.
Can kids use Tiger Balm White?
Tiger Balm White may be used by kids 2 years and older to relieve sore and aching muscles, but not for headaches. For younger babies or children, it is best not to use it since the ingredients like camphor and menthol are too irritating. Always apply a small amount and rub well into the skin—do not use near face, eyes, nose, or mouth. Do not apply if skin is broken, and stop using if skin irritation occurs. If your child's skin is sensitive or you are unsure whether it is safe, speak to a pharmacist first.
How do I apply Tiger Balm White for a headache?
For adults alone, Tiger Balm White can also be utilized to ease tension headaches caused by stress, fatigue or pulled neck and shoulder muscles. Rub a bit gently on your forehead or temples—just a little to cover the spot. You'll get a warming or cooling sensation that relieves discomfort. Do not apply near your eyes, nose, or mouth, and never apply inside the nostrils. If your headache worsens or persists for a long time, consult a doctor or pharmacist to exclude other reasons.
Is it safe to take Tiger Balm daily?
Yes, Tiger Balm can be taken daily for limited periods, typically 2 to 3 times a day. Most people use it when they have sore muscles or a tension headache. However, avoid using it on large areas of the skin for extended periods. If your pain comes back a lot or doesn't improve in a few days, consult your GP or pharmacist to ask if you need a different treatment. If the skin becomes sore, itchy, or inflamed, stop using it immediately. And don't forget: only to use on the outside of the body.
What shouldn't I do when I use Tiger Balm?
When using Tiger Balm, do not place it on irritated, broken or sensitive skin. Do not apply near eyes, mouth, nostrils or private parts since the strong oils will burn or irritate. Avoid bandaging or wrapping it, as this can retain excessive heat. Don't use heat packs or hot water bottles on the affected area. Never breathe it in or use in the nose. Always wash your hands thoroughly after use. If pregnant, breastfeeding or taking other medication, consult a pharmacist before use.
