FAQs Answered by Pharmacists: Relief for External Feminine Itching with Vagisil Medicated Cream

What symptoms does Vagisil Medicated Cream help relieve?

Vagisil Medicated Cream is designed to relieve external feminine itching, burning, and irritation. It is especially useful when symptoms are triggered by common irritants such as perspiration, tight clothing, laundry detergents, or menstruation. The lidocaine in the cream numbs the area, offering fast relief and reducing the urge to scratch.

How does Vagisil work and how fast can I expect relief?

Vagisil contains lidocaine, a fast-acting local anaesthetic that works by calming irritated nerve endings in the skin. This helps relieve pain, itching, and discomfort within minutes of application. It also forms a barrier over the skin to support healing and prevent further irritation.

Is it safe to use Vagisil every day?

Vagisil can be applied up to 3–4 times daily when symptoms are present. It is not meant for daily use over long periods without breaks. If your symptoms last longer than one week, stop using the cream and consult a doctor, as persistent itching may signal a more serious condition such as an infection.

Can Vagisil be used during menstruation or with other vaginal products?

Yes, Vagisil is suitable to use during your period. However, if you are using other vaginal medications or treatments, speak to your pharmacist or doctor to make sure there are no interactions. Vagisil is for external use only—do not apply it inside the vagina.

Is Vagisil safe for use during pregnancy?

Vagisil should not be used during pregnancy unless recommended by a doctor. Although the amount of lidocaine absorbed through the skin is small, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can children use Vagisil?

Vagisil Medicated Cream is not recommended for children under 12 years old. If a child experiences itching or irritation in the intimate area, consult a doctor for the safest and most appropriate treatment.

What should I do if itching persists or worsens?

If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or get worse, stop using Vagisil and see a healthcare professional. Persistent itching could be due to a yeast infection, bacterial infection, or other skin conditions that require different treatment.
